Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary:

As Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor with our client manufacturing plant in the Savannah, GA area, you will supervise and coordinate the activities of workers who will set up, install, repair and maintain machinery and equipment, and who will fabricate parts and tools.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Directs workers in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Prioritizes and schedules work to meet production schedules. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Requisitions and maintains supply of spare parts.
  • Lead DNA and 5S programs for areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in RCA (Root Cause Analysis) of systems and equipment failures in the effort to implement solutions to increase plant reliability.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and maintenance records.
  • Contribute to the development of the maintenance budget and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinates activities with requirements of other areas and departments.
  • Maintains good working knowledge of SHE policies, rules, and procedures applicable to the area of responsibility and ensures all applicable requirements are adhered to.
  • Ensures employees are provided required training for area assigned, and jobs and tasks prior to assigning work.
  • Ensures area of responsibility is maintained in orderly and safe manner.
  • Promptly reports unsafe working conditions to management and communicates potential hazards to affected employees. Promptly reports all incidents to management and conducts incident investigation as soon as practicable; no later than 24 hours from time of incident.


Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) from a college or technical school or equivalent two years applicable training
  • Five years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Two or more years supervisory experience in industrial maintenance preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribe style and format.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to sit; climb stairs and/or ladders, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The associate must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
