(Temporary) Part-Time Membership Assistant

The North Carolina Arboretum, a 434-acre garden and outdoor destination just outside of Asheville, seeks an enthusiastic team member to join us part-time. If you thrive in a beautiful, nature-filled environment and enjoy providing exceptional customer service, this is the perfect opportunity!

Our Membership Department is currently seeking a (Temporary) Part-Time Membership Assistant to aid members with enrollment, renewal and provide information to guests interested in membership. The Membership Assistant answers inbound member visits and calls with a high degree of aptitude and professionalism, at times coordinating with multiple departments to assist the member while being solutions-oriented. This role requires excellent customer service skills as a point of direct contact with visitors and members.

Pay will be $16.00 per hour. This position will be for 24-30 hours per week.

Additional duties will include:

  • Processing of membership using Tessitura software database;
  • assisting with production, printing, packaging, and mailing of membership materials;
  • assisting with communication (in person, by phone, emails and letters);
  • assist visitors;
  • other duties as assigned.

Special Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time while assisting members and visitors.
  • Ability to frequently communicate verbally and in writing with members, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and copiers.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for data entry, handling paperwork, and processing membership materials.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials such as mailings, brochures, and membership packets weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and welcoming presence while interacting with the public in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The North Carolina Arboretum is a 434-acre public garden with a mission to "cultivate connections between people, plants, and places." Members of The North Carolina Arboretum Society support 65 acres of cultivated gardens and seasonal landscape exhibits, 10 miles of natural wooded trails for walking, hiking and biking, rotating art, science and educational exhibits, improvements to Arboretum facilities and special projects, as well as important conservation and youth education programs.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
High School Education or equivalent; demonstrated success in providing outstanding customer service.
