Job Summary The Manager of Veteran Services provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for programs and services that support veteran, active-duty, and military-affiliated students. This role serves as the institution's primary liaison with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), state agencies, and community partners, while fostering a veteran-friendly campus environment that promotes recruitment, retention, persistence, and completion. This position manages the veteran education benefit programs, acts as a liaison between student-veterans and the college, oversees certification and compliance with federal and state regulations, provides academic and financial advising, as well as develops supportive resources and programming to promote veteran student success.The Manager oversees staff, budgets, compliance, and outreach initiatives, ensuring services align with institutional goals and national best practices. The Manager will support and implement Mesa Community College's vision, mission, and values. Essential Functions Strategic Leadership & Planning (20%)

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible student services or related experience that includes such things as administration of policies and procedures, program oversight and two years of supervisory experience. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. Three (3) years or more experience working with military-affiliated or non-traditional student populations in a post-secondary education setting. B. One (1) or more years supervising staff or leading programs in higher education, veterans' services, or related areas including experience with budget management, assessment, and external funding (grants/philanthropy). C. Demonstrated knowledge of VA and DoD educational benefit programs and certification processes including one (1) or more years of experience as a VA Certifying Official. D. Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. E. Bachelor's degree or higher level degree/advanced coursework in a liberal arts & sciences area, education, public affairs, business, law, fine arts, or a related field. F. Military service or experience working with post-9/11 veterans and their families. G. Proficiency in higher education systems (PeopleSoft, VA Enrollment Manager, DegreeWorks). College operating hours are 8 am - 5 pm; May be required to work evenings and weekends This position is fully on-site, with no remote options May be required to work at multiple college sites or locations. Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
