This role will be part of the Timekeeping and Scheduling Replacement (TSR) Project, working within the Functional Workstream to help guide the analysis, testing, and implementation of key Timekeeping and Advanced Scheduling modules.

Position Overview

The Business Systems Analyst will collaborate closely with project managers, technical teams, vendor partners, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define business requirements, support testing cycles, document future-state workflows, and ensure a smooth transition to the new platform. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Participation & Analysis

  • Participate in remaining project phases, including testing, future-state documentation, cutover preparation, go-live activities, and post-go-live hypercare.

  • Analyze, define, and document detailed business requirements, integrations, and functional needs for Timekeeping and Scheduling modules.

Cutover & Implementation Support

  • Execute detailed cutover tasks and checklists in coordination with the TSR Project Manager, UKG vendor, and partnering workstreams.

  • Assist with data collection, consolidation, cleansing, and validation to ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness.

Documentation & Process Mapping

  • Document future-state workflows and business processes using both narrative descriptions and process maps/diagrams.

  • Maintain accurate records of functional gaps, issues, risks, decisions, and configuration recommendations.

Data & Reporting

  • Use Microsoft Excel to gather, manipulate, interpret, and analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Synthesize complex data into clear, actionable summaries and reporting materials for issue resolution, testing, and enhancements.

Communication & Stakeholder Support

  • Translate complex or technical concepts into easy-to-understand language for non-technical audiences.

  • Advise stakeholders on solution options, risks, dependencies, and downstream impacts to related processes or systems.

Post-Go-Live Support

  • Provide hypercare assistance to end users, including investigation of issues, triage, and documentation of resolutions.

  • Support project management with timely updates on status, priorities, issues, and risks.

Additional Position Details:

  • Anticipated duration: 12 months

  • Compensation: $45.62 - $56.25 / hour, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.

  • Location: Hybrid / remote work arrangement requiring 2 - 3 days on-site per week. On-site work will be at UC San Diego's offices in the University City area.

  • Work schedule: Mon - Fri, 8:00 - 4:30 PM.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems or Computer Science (or related) OR combination of relevant professional experience and education.

  • Four (4) years of data analysis experience on a system implementation project.

  • Demonstrated skill in analyzing information and procedures, understanding up and downstream impacts, defining problems and objectives, formulating logical and objective conclusions, and recognizing alternatives and their implications.

  • Experience creating data analyses and reports, identifying patterns, and translating their meaning.

  • Experience with documenting functional requirements, design specifications, and test cases.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical resources.

  • High aptitude for research, data collection, problem-solving, and identifying issues and trends.

  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
