Job Details We are seeking a Food Service Assistant I to join our Food & Nutrition team at the West End Cafeteria. This position plays a key role in providing excellent service to our customers and maintaining high standards of sanitation and food safety. Location: West End Cafeteria (Christiana Hospital - Newark Campus) Schedule: Primarily 11:15 AM - 7:45 PM (Other possible shifts: 8 hours between 5:30 AM and 8:00 PM) Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday rotation Responsibilities Serve hot food to cafeteria customers in a friendly and efficient manner. Assist with food preparation and stocking food items as needed. Clean pots, pans, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures. Operate dishwashing and pot-washing equipment safely and effectively. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including timely trash removal. Follow infection prevention and safety protocols, including proper use of chemicals and protective gear. Demonstrate our core values of Excellence and Love in every interaction. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Ability to read, write, and follow instructions. Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with health regulations. Working Conditions Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, cleaning chemicals, and occasional infectious materials. Must pass a physical examination and drug screening. Join us and be part of a team that values compassion, safety, and excellence in service! This position has a starting rate of $17.32 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.34 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.34 per hour. This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
