Alliance Cancer Specialists is committed to providing compassionate, cutting-edge care to our patients. We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant at our Main Line Practice to join our team and support our physicians and clinicians in delivering exceptional oncology and hematology care.

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. This role promotes efficient patient flow and supports patient care during exams and procedures. Additional responsibilities include clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physician schedules. The Medical Assistant adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas.
  • Record patient data prior to each visit (vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes).
  • Obtain necessary patient records for physician review.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms; order supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Respond to patient calls and perform administrative duties (typing, filing, faxing, reception).
  • Alert nurse/physician of abnormal vitals or important patient information.
  • Collect inbound meaningful use data (e.g., flu documentation, initial height and weight).
  • Schedule blood transfusions, therapeutic phlebotomies, and order special tests (Oncotype, KRAS, EGFR, Myriad, Paradigm).
  • May enter orders under provider direction and supervision.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Some state regulations may require specific certifications.
Physical Demands:
  • Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs.
  • Corrected vision and hearing required.
Work Environment:
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations common to an oncology/hematology clinic.
