Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an Oncology RN Clinical Educator in support of all Virginia Oncology Associate locations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with Leadership to assess and maintain training requirements of all staff.
  • May provide onboarding of all new nurses.
  • Performs training administration duties including maintaining records and collaborate with HR to maintain RN Licensure, CPR, ONS courses and professional and training requirements for each position, measuring the results of training programs, and producing reports.
  • Developing training and education.
  • Developing or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products including contributions related to educational materials and program development.
  • Provide educational programs or in-service training sessions on topics relevant to oncology specialty.
  • Implements training and clinical education programs in the field and conducts train-the-trainer programs.
  • Provide support for patient education on cancer treatment. Make supportive care referrals and develop educational resource lists for participants (where applicable)
  • Functions as a resource to other interdisciplinary team members in development of care and treatment plans i.e. social workers, navigators, and genetic counselors.
  • Must be willing to travel between offices as required

Qualifications

  • BSN from an accredited program for professional nursing education.
  • MSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must maintain continuing education requirements.
  • Five years nursing experience in oncology setting.
  • 1 year of educator or nursing leadership experience preferred.
  • Oncology certification required.
  • Must be willing to travel between offices as required

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
