Overview

The Deckplate Leader Development Program (DLDP) Instructor will play an integral role in the training of Operations Supervisors, General Foremen, Area Superintendents, and Ship Superintendents at Electric Boat. The DLDP Instructor will teach a variety of managerial and technical skills required for leading in Operations via pipelines and various additional courses. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to safety and procedural compliance, be a self-starter, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must also possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly and approachable customer service demeanor while in the classroom.

Responsibilities & Duties - The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:

    Instructing various DLDP courses
  • Directing a class of 15-20 students through presentations, digital workbooks, discussions, and activities
  • Preparing for classroom instruction by studying course material
  • Setting up classroom for a course before class begins
  • Enforcing safety rules and regulations
  • Assessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
  • Supporting new course development in conjunction with curriculum development team
  • Assisting in changes and updates to the Operations Leadership Training strategy and programs
  • Reporting on student performance, as needed
  • Supporting special training projects as required

Successful candidate must be willing to work as part of a team dedicated to knowledge transfer, growth, and advancement of all trade skills.

Must be willing to work split shifts and some overtime, as necessary.



Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of related experience in Operations leadership (i.e., Operations/Test/QA Supervisor, General Foreman, Area Superintendent, etc.) or Operations support (i.e., Operations Analyst, Proficiency Developer, Construction Support Engineering, Manufacturing Representative, Training Instructor, etc.)
  • This position will be required to teach at all EB and partner facilities as necessary with the potential for upwards of 10% travel to off-site facilities such as Focus Factories. Most often classes are held at the Westerly Education Center

Preferred:

  • Instructing and/or teaching experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on Operations Leadership experience
  • Groton and QP experience
