The Center for Psychedelic Research at CU Denver seeks a highly qualified and experienced Lead Lecturer to serve as instructor of a course in our state-approved facilitator training program for psychedelic-assisted services facilitators. The Lead Lecturer will be responsible for planning, managing and delivering engaging and informative educational content that covers the theoretical foundations, practical skills, and ethical considerations of psychedelic-assisted therapy. This role requires a strong commitment to advancing knowledge and practice in this emerging field while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
By submitting your application, you will become part of an applicant pool. Candidates hired from this pool will fill temporary, non-tenure track positions and will co-teach no more than one Center for Psychedelic Research course per 8-week appointment. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made term-by-term, depending on the needs of the program and subject to budgetary approval.
Lead Lecturer, Psilocybin-Assisted Services Facilitator Training
What you will do:
- Individualize and deliver existing high-quality training modules for the psychedelic-assisted services facilitator training course.
- Create engaging and informative course materials, including lectures, handouts, and assessments.
- Facilitate interactive learning experiences, incorporating group discussions, case studies, role-playing, and other relevant methods.
- Evaluate participant learning and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute to the overall development and enhancement of the program.
- Collaborate with other faculty and staff members to ensure program quality.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of training activities.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Masters degree or equivalent in Psychology, Counseling, Social work, Nursing, or related discipline.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in a relevant clinical setting or in psychedelic-assisted services, or related modalities (e.g., trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based practices).
- Demonstrated experience in teaching or training adults in a professional setting.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
- Terminal degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social work, Nursing, or related discipline.
- Prior experience designing and delivering curriculum for psychedelic-assisted facilitation training.
- Direct experience as a facilitator of psychedelic-assisted services.
- Experience working within a university setting.
- Certification or licensure in a relevant mental health profession.
- Professional and/or publication record in or related to psychedelic, psychedelic-assisted services or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of ethical considerations related to psychedelic-assisted facilitation services.
- Comprehensive understanding of current and relevant legal and regulatory frameworks governing psychedelic services and research.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and oral) and ability to engage learners from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Ability to effectively present complex information in an accessible and engaging manner, utilizing a variety of teaching methods.
- Demonstrated ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Proficiency in curriculum development and course design.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of current research and best practices in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy.
- Proficiency in using common software applications for grading and communication (e.g., Canvas, Google Suite, Zoom platform).
Conditions of Employment
- Work during the evening will be required. Occasional work during the weekend may be required.
- This fully remote position requires the candidate to have access to a private space to teach from to ensure confidentiality of the students, as well as a reliable and strong webcam, microphone, and internet connection.
- This position is fully remote, and the candidate can work anywhere in the United States, although we would welcome an in-office presence for the two offering of class community hybrid events during the 8-week course window..
Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements
- The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $8,000 per one non-credit, 8-week Center for Psychedelic Research course.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
