  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience with modern gene editing and transgenesis techniques, including CRISPR/Cas9 systems and transposase technology.

  • Demonstrated, high-level work experience making or establishing stable transgenic lines of any animal.

  • Demonstrated advanced skill and practical knowledge in complex molecular cloning, plasmid design, and vector engineering for fluorescent reporters/biosensors.

  • Demonstrated practical experience using fluorescence microscopy to screen and image fluorescent reporters (e.g., GFP, RFP) in cells or organisms.

  • Demonstrated practical experience and high level of manipulative skill in microinjecting embryos or oocytes of any animal species.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply basic bioinformatics tools (e.g., BLAST, sequence alignment) to gene annotation and design precise molecular constructs in non-model systems.

  • Proven ability to carry out complex procedures with limited supervision and use ingenuity and resourcefulness to adapt and optimize standard techniques for non-model organisms.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact using tact and diplomacy with diverse personalities including academic, staff, student, and volunteer employees and institutions/organizations. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with a variety of people from the public to governmental agencies.
