Overview
We are looking for a strategic thinker, strong executor, and inspiring leader to fill an important role as Director of Product Management - Rheology and Mechanical Testing at Waters TA Instruments. Reporting to Vice President of R&D and Product Solutions, this individual will provide senior-level leadership in the development and implementation of the worldwide product strategies and product management roadmaps for the Rheology and Mechanical Testing product lines. This position will be located in the New Castle, Delaware facility.
Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to
Product Strategies and Roadmap:
Establish and implement business strategy and product roadmaps for Rheology & Mechanical Testing franchise aligned with the company's overall goals and market demands.
- Oversee all new product opportunities and enhancement of existing products and collaborate with Commercial and R&D stakeholders to accelerate growth of the Rheology & Mechanical Testing franchise.
- Clearly and continually communicate strategic directions, product status, delivery details, and desired outcomes throughout the company.
Product Innovation:
- Develop new product strategies for Rheology and Mechanical Testing delivering high performing, reliable and cost-effective products to meet evolving customer needs.
- Create new product definitions outlining strategies, positioning, target customers, claims, key features and specifications.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer insight and new product opportunities.
- Manage the development of customer needs, product requirements and financial models to support new product innovations.
Product Launch:
- Oversee the development and implementation of new product launch strategies. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution of launch plans.
- Guide customer facing teams on go-to-market execution, product messaging, and sales enablement materials/demos.
- Recommend and set pricing structure for new and existing products based on positioning and competitive landscape.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders and opinion leaders.
People / Leadership
- Build, train, develop and manage a world class Rheology & Mechanical Testing product management team capable of achieving sustained business growth and innovation necessary to keep TA Instruments at the forefront of the industry.
- Champion business planning and innovation for Rheology and Mechanical Testing product management. Foster a culture of accountability, forward thinking, collaboration and execution excellence.
The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or Life Sciences
- MBA in Marketing and Management and/or Ph.D. degrees in science and engineering or other related fields are preferred.
- Deep knowledge of the global materials characterization markets with 10+ years of market specific experience within the fit of TA/Waters or related technologies and solutions. Experience in rheology and mechanical testing is a plus.
- Strong product management experience developing product roadmaps and product line plans in accordance with strategic marketing planning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of developing customer needs, market requirements, product requirements and financial models.
- Proven track record of managing teams to drive product marketing, new product development and launches in terms of timelines, budgets, quality, performance and product reliability.
- Knowledge and experience in project management techniques including the product development process, budgeting, forecasting and maintaining timelines, achieving technical deliverables and prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strategy development, business and operational planning and execution, organizational effectiveness, financial management, change leadership, business development, staff management and development.
