This is a Full-Time position (80 hours per pay period) with a Monday - Friday day shift schedule, located at Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista (one remote day per week once training is complete). Join a great team supporting the RAVE/Training department at our Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista as a Public Resource Specialist. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks involving un-funded or under-funded patients admitted to Scripps Health, including:

  • Assist Scripps unfunded and under-funded patients and their families with applying for Public Assistance by submitting applications to the county, monitoring of the applications, through to the highest level of appeals while adhering to all policies on fraud/abuse and providing excellent customer service to patients and other customers
  • Acting liaison between Scripps, County HHSA/HCSS HOPE and FRC programs
  • Meets productivity and quality standards
  • Acts as a resource to Case Management, Social Work and other hospital staff if patient funding impacts discharge planning and transfers
  • Makes home calls when necessary as part of assisting with application/verification process
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Eligibility Case Worker with either the County, State or Federal Public Benefits Agency.

  • Bilingual in Spanish.

  • CA Driver's License.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply knowledge of State, Federal, and County Eligibility Policies.
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex processes to a predominant indigent population.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Experienced in dealing with a socially and economically disadvantaged patient population.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Notary license preferred.
  • Appeals experience preferred.
