POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Manager, Retirement / Benefits oversees the administration, governance, and compliance of FedEx Freight's employee retirement programs, including the 401(k) Savings Plan and Defined Benefit Pension Plan. This role ensures effective plan operations, accurate funding and reporting, strong fiduciary oversight, and alignment with company policies, ERISA, and related federal regulations. Reporting to the Treasurer, the Manager partners across Finance, HR, Legal, and Payroll to manage plan strategy and operations, oversee third-party service providers, and ensure seamless plan management through initiation to a sustainable long term strategy.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead day-to-day administration of retirement plans (401(k), Pension, and Non-Qualified Plans) in partnership with HR and Payroll

Manage relationships with external recordkeepers, custodians, actuaries, and consultants, ensuring adherence to performance metrics and compliance requirements

Oversee plan funding, contributions, and disbursements, ensuring accurate and timely processing Ensure compliance with plan documents, ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations, and corporate policies Maintain strong governance and documentation standards for all plan decisions and fiduciary actions

Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion and remediation of findings Prepare and review government filings (Form 5500, SAR, audit reports) and related disclosures Partner with the Treasurer, CAO, and Legal on plan design, funding, and risk management strategies Support alignment of retirement benefit governance with FedEx Freight's long-term financial strategy

Coordinate with HR and Communications to design and deliver participant education and engagement initiatives

Provide insights and recommendations to leadership on emerging regulatory changes and market trends

Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures

Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Economics or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years' experience in in retirement or employee benefit plan administration
  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations and related plan compliance standards.
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills, with ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Skilled in vendor governance, plan audits, and service-level management
  • Demonstrated analytical ability with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent leadership, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and ability to use Microsoft Office Software, including but not limited to; Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally; including presentation skills
