Responsibilities

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports the daily clinical operations of the clinic by providing high-quality patient care and administrative support under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers. The CMA performs clinical tasks, coordinates patient flow, assists with procedures, and ensures accurate documentation to promote efficient and compassionate care delivery.

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with patient exams, procedures, and treatments.

  • Record patient vital signs, medical histories, and documentation in the EHR.

  • Administer medications and perform basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection.

  • Educate patients on medications, procedures, and follow-up care.

  • Maintain clean, safe clinical areas and follow infection control standards.

  • Coordinate patient flow, schedule appointments, manage referrals, and support front-office tasks as needed.

  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and clinical staff while protecting patient confidentiality.


Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CAAHEP, ABHES, or equivalent).

  • Active certification as a Medical Assistant from one of the following:

    • CCMA-NHA, CMA (AAMA), CMA-NCCT, CMA-NCMA, NRCMA-NAHP, RMA (AMT), RMA-AAH, or RMA-ARMA.

  • Current BLS/CPR certification (AHA or equivalent).

  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR).

  • Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and maintain patient confidentiality.
