Job Description

UMKC is looking for a creative, collaborative marketing strategist who will be responsible for organizing, building and leading a social influencer marketing strategy that coordinates with overall university marketing. This position will report to the Chief Marketing Strategist in the division of Strategic Marketing and Communications (MCom) and will be key to producing and delivering student generated content that is relevant and engaging to capture the attention of prospective and current students. It will serve in direct support of the university's recruitment efforts in Admissions and Enrollment Management and also will support key student retention efforts in partnership with Student Affairs and Student Success. Ensuring the student generated content is on brand and message, while allowing for student freedom and expression will be an important deliverable.

In addition, this individual will coordinate closely with MCom colleagues to integrate student generated content across owned and earned marketing and communications channels.

Job duties:

  • Drive the planning and execution of social influencer marketing tactics.
  • Develop and deliver student generated content that is relevant and engaging to capture the attention of prospective and current students.
  • Produce content in multiple formats including both vertical and horizontal video formats; quickly execute and manage content development in those areas to a high level of quality.
  • Analyze marketing data and results from efforts; make adjustments to tactics as needed.
  • Deliver monthly reports to key marketing personnel and leadership.
  • Build effective relationships with students, campus colleagues and partners to maximize opportunities for collaboration and support.
  • Serve as the brand manager to ensure all work maintains messaging and visual identity consistent with UMKC brand strategy.
  • Effectively provide support and direction for online and digital marketing efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Shift

This is a full-time, benefit eligible staff position.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passionate, collaborative, highly creative, innovative, out of the box thinker, problem solver.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and respond with urgency to new ideas and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with a wide variety of people, build positive relationships and provide consistent communication.
  • Fluent in social media with experience in brand and marketing strategy.
  • Knowledge of CRM and digital strategies is a must.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of AP style and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven track record of producing high quality digital media content.
  • Ability to proactively identify communications and marketing opportunities and develop supporting creative.
Anticipated Hiring Range

$52,915.20 - $55,000 per year commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
