Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below: Instructor of Clinical Practice * Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters' degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. * Current board certification (FNP, PNP, CPNP, PA) * Active Colorado license * Active DEA license in Colorado * Minimum 3 years of experience working in pediatrics Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice * Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters' degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. * Current board certification (FNP, PNP, CPNP, PA) * Active Colorado license * Active DEA license in Colorado * Minimum 3 years of experience working in pediatrics * Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position at an academic hospital Condition of Employment: * Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado * Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications: * Strong preference for experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant managing pediatric hematology and oncology patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. * For Nurse Practitioner applicants, Acute Care Certification is strongly preferred. * Experience managing Children's Oncology Group study protocols including clinical care coordination and study audits. * Experience in using the EPIC electronic medical records system * Familiarity with or fluency (preferred) in medical Spanish, meeting hospital criteria for language certification qualification. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Ability to effectively communicate professionally, clearly and effectively with staff and faculty within and outside the Section, Department and/or hospital. * Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients and families and colleagues. * Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. * Strong advocacy skills. * Knowledge of best practices in patient safety and quality care. * Ability to write orders, including diagnostic tests, medications, care instructions, and adding to patients' electronic medical records. * Ability to perform selected procedures including but not limited to lumbar punctures with or without intrathecal chemotherapy and bone marrow aspirates and biopsies. |
