Sensor and Signature Engineering Intern

Location: Columbia, Maryland

Job Status: Summer Intership

Clearance: Secret

Travel: <5%

Systems Engineering Group (SEG), an Astrion company, has openings for summer internships in Signatures, Systems, Data Analysis, ML Ops ,Software Development, Sensors and Radar Systems at our Columbia, Maryland office. Approximate 10-week program. Systems Engineering Groupis a highly regarded provider of air and missile defense threat engineering and combat, radar, and missile systems engineering and analysis. Principal customers include the U.S. Navy, Missile Defense Agency, and Industries.

The development of analytical models and tools to characterize threat ballistic and cruise missile performance. These include supporting ongoing activities in the following areas:

  • Radio Frequency (RF) Signature models
  • Radar and sensor modeling
  • Machine learning studies and data analysis
  • Phenomenological models for missile debris, clutter, and RF signature waking
  • Generating documentation for all data and models
  • Interfacing with SEG management, program management, and government customers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance. US citizenship is required for eligibility as per the cognizant security agency and requirements of the programs supported in this role.
  • All candidates must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Degrees in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics or Applied Math.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to read and write MATLAB, Python, or similar code to processes and analyze data
  • Experience with documentation and presentations via Microsoft office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work in small teams or groups
  • Ability to work independently with help as needed
