JUNIOR PHYSICS MODELING ENGINEER Location: Columbia, Maryland Job Status: Full Time Clearance: Secret Salary: $85,000 to $100,000 Systems Engineering Group (SEG), a wholly owned subsidiary of Astrion LLC, is seeking enthusiastic candidates wanting to support the defense of our nation. SEG is currently seeking a Jr. Physics Modeling Engineer to support our MDA and Navy customers. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- The candidate must be a US citizen and have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance.
- Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor of Science degree in technical disciplines such as Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Practical knowledge of physics-based modeling, simulation, or analysis
- Fundamental knowledge trajectory propagation
- Experience or coursework in mechanics and electromagnetic physics theory
- Proficiency in a scripting language like MATLAB or Python for modeling, simulation, and data analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented, configuration management and organization skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Master's Degree with emphasis on aerodynamics, propulsion, dynamics, or electromagnetic signals.
- Active Secret Clerance and ability to be onsite during working hours due to the nature of the work.
- Experience in physics-based modeling, simulation, and analysis of flight vehicles
- 3+ years of physics-based kinematics or electromagnetic signal modeling experience
- Strong understanding of numerical methods, and data analysis workflow development
RESPONSIBILITIES
- We are seeking a Junior Physics Mechanics or Electromagnets Engineer to support the model development, configuration management, testing, and analysis of physics-based simulations and modeling inputs for various flight vehicles.
- Models include kinematic trajectories, endo- and exo-atmospheric environmental phenomenology, and electromagnetic signatures.
- The engineer will deliver the modeling inputs to both support internal analysis and as inclusion in deliverable models to our government customers and end-users.
- The engineer will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, demonstrating the capability to customers and stakeholders, and potentially leading a team of engineers and software developers to design and develop these models.
