This role is responsible for analyzing, preparing, reviewing, and recording revenuerelated journal entries, including accruals, reaccruals, and other adjustments, with a strong focus on the accurate application of debits and credits. The position plays a key role in the monthend close process by ensuring revenue activity is properly accounted for, reconciled, and reported in accordance with GAAP and industry regulations. The Senior Revenue Reporting Accountant supports reliable financial reporting for oil and gas revenue through detailed analysis, account reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in financial accounting, oil and gas revenue recognition, accrual methodologies, and reporting requirements, along with the ability to work independently, partner crossfunctionally, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze monthly revenue activity, including production volumes and pricing data, to support accurate revenue accrual and reaccrual processes
- Prepare and record revenuerelated journal entries for both operated and nonoperated properties in accordance with GAAP
- Reconcile revenue accruals to actual results and investigate variances, including support for purchase price allocation (PPA) analysis
- Partner with crossfunctional teams to research and resolve outstanding items and ensure accurate, complete, and timely revenue reporting
- Prepare and review monthly revenuerelated account reconciliations, ensuring appropriate support and documentation
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures associated with revenue accruals and reporting
- Provide support and guidance to other members of the Revenue Accounting group, as needed
- Ensure all revenue distribution and close deadlines are consistently met
- Participate in ad hoc projects and special initiatives related to revenue accounting, reporting, and process improvement
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BBA or BS) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5+) years of experience in oil and gas accounting
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience creating and utilizing VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and SUMIF formulas
- Solid understanding of revenue accounting and general accounting principles
- Ability to analyze contracts with a working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of five (5+) years of relevant revenue accounting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Demonstrated experience identifying, recommending, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities and daily work assignments
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- High attention to detail combined with strong analytical, problemsolving, and collaborative skills
- Experience working within the PRA module of SAP
