Job Description:

Microchip's Analog Hi Rel and RF Solutions (HRR) and Hi Rel Solutions (HRS) Business Unit delivers one of the industry's most comprehensive portfolios of power discrete semiconductor products. Our solutions support a wide range of end markets, including space, defense, commercial aviation, communications, power systems, and security.

The product engineering team in Lawrence, MA, is looking for an innovative, solutions-driven engineer, to help shape and support our power electronics portfolio-today and into the future. Become part of a team backed by world-class foundries, assembly operations, test facilities, and broad manufacturing resources.

This position is responsible for partnering with semiconductor foundry, test, and manufacturing engineers to drive yield and quality improvements, reduce costs, and collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to qualify materials and electronic packages.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the design, characterization and qualification for both new as well as qualified products.
  • Contributing to cross functional product problem-solving initiatives, continuous improvement efforts and corrective actions.
  • Creating and/or reviewing product documentation including assembly/post assembly travelers, screening travelers, and data sheets.
  • Identifying new product BOMs (Bill of Materials) as they are developed or changes as they are implemented.
  • Partnering with internal cross-functional teams as well as externally with customers and suppliers.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or relevant engineering discipline, MS preferred.
  • 7-9 years of experience (with BS degree); 5-6 years of experience (with MS degree).

Required Experience:

  • Experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment in product engineering, metal or glass assembly processes.
  • Experience with AC/DC electrical parameter testing for diodes, transistors and MOSFET, including hands-on test characterization and analysis.
  • Experience with root-cause and failure analysis/troubleshooting (FMEA/DMEA).
  • Experience with military specifications including MIL-PRF-19500, MIL-STD-750, and MIL-STD 883 and use of this knowledge in reviewing customer drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional teams, customers and suppliers.

Preferred Experience:

  • Six sigma.
  • SPICE modeling.
  • Software skills in LabVIEW, Silvaco, Minitab, TCAD.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in Massachusetts, is 68,640-205,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
