What to Expect
Tesla's Cathode Advanced Manufacturing team is developing and scaling cathode material production-scale processes for next generation energy and vehicle products. The team is looking for a highly motivated individual with material background to join the lab team. As a material engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers and technicians to develop/optimize material recipes and synthesis steps. Success in this role requires material synthesis knowledge and strong hands-on lab operation skills.
What You'll Do
- Lead the DOE implementation on the floor, ensure day-to-day process operation is safe, organized, and efficient, including assembling production plans, sample collection strategies, analytical request list and report-out
- Interpret analytical data, perform process data analysis and prepare technical presentations
- Translate process learnings to meaningfulresults by technical report which affiliated teams may be use as a design basis
- Direct technicians and operators and work closely with the senior engineers for process recipe and condition rapidlyoptimization
- Lead on lab equipmentselection,assessment,design, built, commission
- Troubleshoot the instruments, develop SOP,arrange regularmaintenance,built the parts listand train operators/technicians
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry or equivalent experience
- Experience of working in the lab and R&D environment
- Willing to hand-on operate lab & pilot experiment with PPE for majority of working time
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to team members including technician, senior engineer and management
- Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of materials engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage this understanding to solve challenging technical problems
- Experience with material characterization methods on chemical, physical and electrochemical properties
- Knowledge of cathode material and inorganic material synthesis is a plus
- Experience with lab-scale unit operation for material synthesis, including mixing, milling, drying, high temperature calcination, filtration
- Ability to work in challenging working conditionsincludinglimited resource,aggressivetimelineand dynamic design goals
