A National Science Foundation-funded graduate program focused on the theme of material, energy, and water circularity and based in the department of Civil, Environmental and Geo- Engineering trains master's and doctoral students from science, engineering, and policy-related programs. One unique focus of this program is on incorporating cultural perspectives and real-world experiences into academic and industrial research. The Artist in Residence will work with the program directors to develop, teach, and coordinate the cultural and experiential aspects of the program.

Artists' responsibilities include:

• Develop a curriculum for the cultural and experiential learning of circularity through engagement with socially engaged art.
• Coordinate monthly interactions with a variety of communities to introduce graduate students and faculty participants to other ways of knowing and the process of problem definition. These interactions will be led by the Artist in Residence.
• Meet regularly with faculty and graduate student participants to guide their development with respect to cross-cultural experience, impact identity development, and problem definition.

This position will provide the artist in residence with a unique opportunity to shape cutting-edge academic educational practices in the sciences and engineering by using arts-based approaches. Therefore, the ideal candidate must have substantial teaching experience, a deep interest and commitment to impactful interdisciplinary collaboration, a successful track record of developing ecology- or environmentally focused projects in collaboration with practitioners from other disciplines, cultures, and communities, and must be based in the Twin Cities to support required educational and engagement activities.

Required Qualifications:

• Must have a Master's of Fine Arts
• Self-driven
• Able to collaborate with diverse groups of individuals, including: faculty, graduate students, staff, and the public sector
• Ability to multitask and have exceptional responsiveness
• Have connections with other local artists who can help build the program and its educational assets for the enrolled students
• Has previous co-teaching experience

• Organizational skills, be passionate about art, teaching, and social engagement.

Fixed Pay Rate: $40 per hour
