RN Cardiac Device Programmer

Floyd Cardiology

Jeffersonville, Indiana

Full Time/First Shift

This position is responsible for the testing and monitoring of patient heart rhythms. Responsibilities include all aspects of implantable rhythm management device follow up including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices and implantable loop recorders.

The RN will communicate patient's status to physicians, provide patient education and keep accurate records. This position requires constant learning of new devices and attending periodic educational classes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

  • Perform trans-telephonic monitoring of pacemakers.

  • Perform interrogation/testing on patients with pacemakers/ICDS/CRT devices/implantable loop recorders both remotely and in person. Be able to assess interrogation/testing results and make independent decisions regarding follow up schedule and pacemaker settings when appropriate.

  • Documents accurate patient records and reports all device and rhythm abnormalities to physicians. Schedules and keeps accurate record of patient information.

  • Perform device operations during AV/VV echo optimizations.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

  • Current RN license.

  • BSN preferred.

  • Knowledge of cardiac rhythms required.

  • Receive certification through the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) as a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist within 3 years of date of hire/or maintenance of certification as a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist.

  • Must maintain an active BCLS card through the American Heart Association.

  • Advanced knowledge of cardiac rhythms and devices used to treat rhythm abnormalities preferred.

  • Experience performing device operations during AV/VV Echo optimization preferred.
