About the Job

The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota is seeking a 100% research professional to work on a sexual and reproductive health NIH-funded research grant. This is a collaborative partnership with the University of Minnesota and the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The aim of the study is to conduct a needs assessment of reproductive and sexual health (RSH) care delivery for people with disabilities (PWD) in Tanzania and to create and test a culturally relevant RSH curriculum to improve student knowledge, attitudes, and skills in providing RSH care to patients with disabilities.

This position will report to Dr. Kristen Mark, Principal Investigator (Family Medicine), and Ms. Gunna Kilian, Program Manager (Epidemiology and Community Health).

Job Responsibilities:

Day-to-day coordination of study activities in the U.S. (40%):

Provide comprehensive coordination of all aspects of the study to ensure that activities and deliverables are completed on time and according to protocol. Monitor progress toward milestones, maintain detailed documentation, and communicate regularly with study investigators, project staff, and external collaborators. Coordinate logistics related to data collection, training sessions, and project implementation.

Project scheduling, tracking, and reporting (20%):
Develop and maintain detailed study timelines, task lists, and tracking systems to monitor project progress. Ensure timely completion of reports and deliverables for the sponsor and institutional stakeholders. Identify and proactively address delays or challenges to maintain project momentum.

Curriculum development support (20%):
Draft, edit, and format curriculum materials for the upcoming trial. Collaborate with faculty and staff to refine educational content and ensure consistency with study objectives and cultural context.

Meeting coordination and communication (5%):
Organize and facilitate project-related meetings with both domestic and international partners. Prepare meeting agendas, record minutes, track action items, and ensure effective follow-up.

Reporting, dissemination, and compliance (10%):
Support the preparation of study reports, scientific manuscripts, and presentations for national and international conferences. Assist with submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and coordinate communication with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.

Other duties as assigned (5%):
Provide general research and administrative support to the project as needed, including document management, communications, and assistance with grant-related tasks.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a social science, public health, or related field plus at least 2 years of experience, OR a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least 6 years.
  • Experience working in global health setting (preferably Tanzania).
  • Experience in curriculum design and implementation.
  • Experience with complex Institutional Review Board submissions.
  • Experience in both qualitative and quantitative data collection methodology.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good organizational skills and ability to travel outside the US to oversee research activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a social science, public health, or related field or a combination of related education Preference will be given to individuals with experience in global health and knowledge of Tanzanian culture, as well as a basic understanding of Swahili.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $28.00hr to $30.90hr, we anticipate most offers will be around the midpoint of this range, depending on education and experience.
