Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Site Services Engineer (Remote & Autonomous Technologies). The Site Services Engineer serves as the product owner and deployment lead for Caterpillar Remote Control and Autonomous technologies. The individual in this role owns the full lifecycle - from initial customer engagement through quoting, sales, deployment, and ongoing support - ensuring successful implementation and long-term performance of these advanced systems at customer sites. In addition, Site Services Engineer acts as the Field Follow Lead for all Cat Command technologies, overseeing in-field performance, customer use, and data collection to drive continual improvement. The Site Services Engineer works working directly with Caterpillar, providing structured feedback, and collaborating closely with CAT engineers on product updates, refinements, and future development priorities.

The Site Services Engineer has responsibility for managing Carter's Remote Control and Autonomy rental fleet, including maintenance coordination, system readiness, and deployment scheduling to support customer operations.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that demands strong technical expertise, solid project management, and clear, direct communication. The position requires consistent collaboration with customers, internal teams, and Caterpillar to align objectives, resolve technical issues, and deliver high-quality deployments.

Seeking candidates with previous experience evaluating digital construction technology projects preferred; Previous experience with Quarry/Aggregate, Waste and or Civil Construction applications, preferred; Previous project management and cross-functional coordination experience preferred.

Requirements for the Site Services Engineer position include:
  • Expert knowledge of Command Technologies including RC and Autonomy.
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of customer job site needs and management.
  • Must be able to analyze large amounts of data and information to develop improvement recommendations to customers that drive results.
  • Fundamental understanding of industry application, specifically Quarry and Aggregates, Large Earth Moving, Waste Handling, Construction and Mining.
  • Must have industry knowledge in Machine Control and Guidance and various Site Applications to include but not limited to: Quarry/Aggregate, Waste and Civil Construction.
  • Excellent customer satisfaction with ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Must be able to multi-task and have ability to prioritize competing tasks and demands and meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer and internet skills with high technology aptitude.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of Data and Analytics.
  • Must have or possess the ability to quickly learn technology products, including Product Link, SOS, CAT Connect, Trimble software options, and other similar products.
  • Must be a good listener with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be innovative and creative; able to quickly evaluate facts and maintain good judgment when making decisions.
  • Travel as needed.
  • Must have an excellent driving record.
  • Strong PC skills and the ability to self-develop and adapt to changing technology.
  • Must be able to handle large volumes of work and work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical requirements must be met for the Site Services Engineer job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
