The Level 3 Network Firewall Engineer leads complex firewall projects, enforces policies, optimizes performance, manages incidents, stays current with industry trends, and mentors junior engineers.
Essential Job Statements Lead the design and implementation of complex firewall projects. Develop and enforce firewall policies and procedures. Conduct firewall performance analysis and optimization. Manage firewall-related incidents and provide advanced troubleshooting. Stay updated with the latest firewall technologies and industry trend Train and mentor junior firewall engineers. Document firewall configurations and changes. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Patient Population: N/A Employment Qualifications Required Education:Bachelor's degree Preferred Education:Master's degree Licensing/ Certification Licensure/Certification Required:Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (PCCSA) or Practitioner (PCCSP) CompTIA Security+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Licensure/Certification Preferred:Pa lo Alto Network Certified Network Professional or Cisco Certified Network Professional - CCNP Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience: 6+ years of experience network security and firewall management (Palo Alto preferred), Advanced understanding of network security principles and firewall technologies. (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, ping, tracert, ipconfig/ifconfig). (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RDP, VNC, ping, tracert, ipconfig/ifconfig, VLAN, VPN, Packet Tracer, Wireshark).Understanding of Python/Ansible for building and maintaining scripts. Understanding of Policy management and compliance tools. Advanced knowledge of network security principles and firewall technologies.Experience with network architecture and design.Ability to lead and manage network security projects.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree. Working Conditions: Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.General office environment.Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel. May have periods of constant interruptions. Prolonged periods of working alone.
