The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine & Tobacco Studies is recruiting one or more scholars for faculty positions. The Institute is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. With a growing team of 20+ full-time core faculty and 30+ skilled research and support staff, the Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-caused morbidity and mortality. Several Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute, including but not limited to the Tobacco Centers for Regulatory Science (TCORS2.0,
TCORS 3.0), the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, and the Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center. The Institute also serves the citizens of the state having treated over 7,000 smokers in New Jersey and our Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist continuing education program has broad reach - with over 3,000 clinicians trained as tobacco treatment specialists from all 50 states and numerous countries.
Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to develop and lead a program of research in tobacco control. Successful candidate(s) will be expected to leverage their extramural research track record and further build a robustly funded program of research at Rutgers University. The successful applicant(s) for this recruitment will hold a joint appointment at the Institute and the Rutgers School/Department that is most compatible with the faculty member's expertise. The Institute provides space and research support services and, as a core member of the Institute, the successful candidate(s) will be eligible for discretionary funding and other resources to facilitate the advancement of their research portfolio. Specific priority areas of interest and expertise specific to this search include, but are not limited to:
- Geospatial methods in the context of commercial determinants of health;
- Tobacco cessation and treatment interventions; especially those aimed at promoting health equity;
- Simulation and/or computational modeling in tobacco control; and
- Dissemination/implementation science focused on evidence-based practices and policies aimed at reducing tobacco use
The Institute would also welcome applications for a Biostatistician. |

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
An earned doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, such as public health, biostatistics, health communication, public policy, health services research or degrees in medicine, nursing or other clinical fields who have advanced research training and relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Demonstrated success in developing extramurally-funded research is essential. While our emphasis is on recruitment of
mid-career or
senior faculty candidates on the tenure track, early stage applicants who have demonstrated potential via extramural applications as Principal Investigator (e.g., K awards, R03/R21) may be considered for tenure and non-tenure track. We are seeking candidates with exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated track record in information dissemination to broad and diverse audiences via publications, presentations, and webinars. |

| Overview |
Successful candidates will devote the majority of their effort to research at
INTS, with some time allocated to other duties (e.g., teaching, mentorship, and service). Salary, track (tenure or non-tenure), and academic rank will be commensurate with candidate's achievements and Institute priorities. |

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
