Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator (Social Media) within the Communications Department of the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator (Social Media) is responsible for the management and success of all Rutgers Cancer Institute social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube and BlueSky) including the development and execution of social media strategies and plans to help achieve the strategic priorities of Rutgers Cancer Institute and the Oncology Service Line. These include but are not limited to the creation of videos, reels, graphics, and other engaging content.
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator serves as the content expert and lead for all oncology-related social media posts for the Oncology Service Line. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator (Social Media Manager) plays a key role in shaping the online voice of our Cancer Center by creating, curating, and managing high-quality digital content. This role supports the center's mission to educate, inform, and inspire patients, caregivers, donors, and the community through thoughtful and strategic use of social media platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
- Leads robust social media strategy, content creation, and execution for all Rutgers Cancer Institute platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, and BlueSky.
- Develops and implements a social media strategy that is aligned with the center's strategic priorities and goals, including increasing patient volume, outreach, education, fundraising, and brand awareness.
- Monitors all Rutgers Cancer Institute social media platforms for engagement and public comments.
- Creates, curates, and manages content across all major platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter and YouTube).
- Responsible for continually increasing social media engagement and followers on all Rutgers Cancer Institute platforms.
- Serves as an oncology content expert and resource for the staff and faculty at Rutgers Cancer Institute and the marketing leads across the RWJBarnabas Health facilities.
- Works closely with the RWJBarnabas Health corporate social media team to ensure post amplification.
- Develops and executes strategic social media plan for major oncology conferences including but not limited to the ASCO and ASH Annual Meetings.
- Utilizes and leads physician-focused social media efforts as part of US News and World Report strategy.
- Creates standardized formats for promoting poster and oral presentations at international conferences on social media, as well as creating engaging content through videos, reels of the booth & photos throughout the conferences for posting on social media.
- Identifies and creates engaging content with doctors, researchers & other teams to promote their specific expertise.
- Considers ideas and produces videos of Rutgers Cancer Institute experts to promote services, awareness months, and other important topics and information.
- Designs and develops infographics for awareness months and other topics. Posts on Rutgers Cancer Institute platforms and share with site marketing leads at RWJBarnabas Health.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Communications, Media, Graphic Arts, or related Marketing degree plus three (3) years of demonstrated professional experience with managing social media channels.
- Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

- Must possess a high level of expertise in the following social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube and BlueSky.
- Must be proficient in the Adobe CS Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Premier Pro and Express), HootSuite, and Microsoft Office.
- Must possess excellent copywriting, communication, and storytelling skills as well as strong organizational and project management skills.
- Must have knowledge of photography and video production/editing.
- Must be highly motivated and possess a high degree of creativity.
- Must be team oriented, flexible, and focused on completing projects in a timely manner.
- Must be very organized and detail oriented and able to articulate concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Candidates should be able to work effectively with multiple constituencies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective oral and communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
