Job Summary: B&A is looking for a Virtual Platform Administrator to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly experienced Virtual Platform Administrator to manage and maintain virtualized infrastructure across on-premises data centers and cloud environments, including DoD and commercial offerings. This role is critical in supporting private, public, and hybrid cloud deployments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of virtual systems and applications. Responsibilities:
- Manage virtualized infrastructure for on-premises and cloud-based environments (DoD and commercial).
- Implement and upgrade host systems, hypervisors, and virtual applications.
- Support virtual machines, appliances, and associated software across platforms including Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, and OCI.
- Ensure high availability, security, and integrity of virtual resources.
- Monitor hypervisors and virtualization applications; configure alerts and automate tasks.
- Apply patches and releases across development, test, pre-production, and production systems.
- Troubleshoot issues related to hosts, hypervisors, and virtual infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation and configuration records.
- Assist in capacity planning, performance tuning, and system optimization.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and fault tolerance strategies.
- Analyze performance trends to enhance system and application efficiency.
- Author custom scripts to automate administrative tasks and improve system efficiency.
Education and Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in virtualized server environments and hosted applications.
- 5+ years hands-on experience supporting DoD Commercial Cloud Hosting solutions.
- 2+ years managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary virtualization projects.
Required Skills:
- Deep expertise in managing virtualized environments using VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and KVM.
- Strong proficiency in cloud platforms including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Proven experience with virtualization technologies and hypervisors, including installation, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Advanced knowledge of cloud deployment models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and cloud-native architecture.
- Hands-on experience with virtual networking components such as virtual switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
- Ability to implement and manage secure cloud environments in compliance with DoD standards.
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation and system administration.
- Strong understanding of system hardening, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtualized and cloud environments.
- Ability to monitor and analyze system performance using tools like Nagios, SolarWinds, or native cloud monitoring services.
- Experience with configuration management and maintaining accurate system documentation.
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, including RMF, STIGs, and 8570.01-M compliance.
Certifications (Required):
- One of the following Google Cloud certifications:
- Google Associate Cloud Engineer
- Google Professional Cloud Architect
- Plus one of the following AWS certifications:
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- AWS Certified Security - Specialty
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
- Plus one of the following Microsoft certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Cloud Operations
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Required for at least one assigned administrator.
Desired Skills:
- Expertise in implementing and sustaining complex multi-cloud solutions.
- Experience supporting and administering commercial cloud hosting solutions (AWS, Azure, OCI).
- Skilled in architecting, implementing, and maintaining IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS deployments.
- Strong understanding of network architecture, security, and routing (VPCs, load balancers, firewalls).
- Proficiency in scripting for automation and system efficiency (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
Security Clearance:
- An active Secret clearance
