This role supports Enterprise Patient & Family Advocacy (EPFA), Consumer & Provider Care Solutions (SPCA) and Consumer Digital. This role is designed to lead, build and support the multi-year service strategy across the ECS Services team -- helping to craft the transformation agenda across ECS Service that will enable improved service, outcomes, and dramatically lower cost of operations for those we serve. Role will also help determine, articulate, and execute the business vision, mission, planning, and strategies to achieve business goals. This role proactively assumes responsibility for leading and executing on critical strategic initiatives and executive projects, responding to requests across the enterprise. This role works collaboratively across the Sr. Leadership Team in EPFA, SPCA and Consumer Digital and leaders across Optum Health and the Enterprise. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact, dynamic environment and in proactively identifying, and then moving quickly to action, on numerous key opportunities and deliverables simultaneously.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic long range and annual priority planning inclusive of MBO / KPI development
  • Establish and lead internal processes to manage financial performance, quality and performance monitoring, and organizational readiness
  • Leads a team focused on execution of strategic initiatives and various deliverables
  • Leads/guides critical strategic initiatives across EPFA, SPCA and Consumer Digital Strategy
  • Coordinates with leaders across the organization to create alignment with business partners, business segments, and functional areas
  • Includes chief of staff responsibilities for the ECS Services team
  • Proactively identifies areas requiring Executive attention in a structured, solution-orientated format
  • Manages the development of MBOs / KPIs, ensures alignment across the team to deliver against goals and tracks progress against key milestones
  • Lead internal communications for EPFA, SPCA and Consumer Digital Strategy and overall culture and experience initiatives
  • Leads strategic initiatives and critical projects and priorities on behalf of the Executive Leaders & Sr. Management team
  • Primary liaison with external support functions (Finance, WFM, Technology, communications, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated experience directly and indirectly leading people
  • 8+ years professional experience in strategic planning, consulting, transformation, and/or operational leadership roles within healthcare clinical operations environments
  • Experience successfully translating a vision into implementation and results as well as leading enterprise level strategies
  • Extensive financial and analytical acumen and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work daily from Optum Eden Prairie, MN campus
  • Chief of Staff experience

  • Deep understanding of strategy, operations, reporting and forecasting with a demonstrated ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions

  • Highly influential, strategic thinker, willing to challenge siloed thinking and drive change at all levels of the organization
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a track record of driving programs and projects in a matrix environment with demonstrated history of successfully managing complex and scaled initiatives
  • Exceptionally organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to handle highly confidential or sensitive information in a professional, discreet manner

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $156,400 to $268,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
