Job Description




As a Security Guard - Shelter Facility Unarmed Patrol in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer with Allied Universal, you will have the opportunity to help create a secure and welcoming environment for residents and staff within a shelter location. Your responsibilities will include conducting routine patrols, remaining a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and providing excellent customer service through clear communication and professional interactions. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and responding to emergency situations as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner to support a secure environment at the shelter location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the shelter and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and promote a positive atmosphere for residents and staff.
  • Document security-related activities, incidents, and observations in accordance with Allied Universal protocols.
  • Communicate with shelter staff and/or residents as needed to address concerns or provide information related to security-related matters.
  • Report maintenance concerns or hazards observed during patrols to the appropriate shelter personnel.
  • Remain alert and observant during shifts to help to deter unauthorized entry and/or suspicious behavior at the location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Experience with access control or badge systems is preferred.
  • CPR or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
