A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Supervisor of Engineering Technicians is a highly skilled team member responsible for management, development of the team and execution of system level testing of the Company's medical device systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring system reliability, compliance, and performance by working with a multi-disciplined team of engineers and test technicians to execute test plans, identify issues, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive solutions. Includes direct support and provided oversight for the development of protocols, test methods, and test equipment to verify system performance. This role may also contribute to process improvements, test automation, and validation efforts to enhance overall product quality and efficiency.

A Supervisor of Engineering Technicians at Tandem also:

  • Provides direct supervision of the System Performance Test technicians, coordinates resources, and manages schedules. Oversees and performs data collection, organization, and presentation of test data to verify medical device system performance.
  • Ensures both new and experienced employees are trained properly. Creates training plans for new employees and lab specific onboarding processes.
  • Creates opportunities to develop employees, delegates and assigns work, ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.
  • Assists with management of space planning and equipment layout. Manages tools and test equipment, including equipment construction, test, check-out, calibration and preventative maintenance.
  • Proposes and implements laboratory efficiency improvement opportunities.
  • Manages laboratory inventory, orders supplies and additional equipment as needed.
  • Participates in planning for additional headcount, budgeting, training, and laboratory capability expansion opportunities.
  • Participates in the selection, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of staff.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

WHEN & WHERE YOU'LL WORK:

This role is on-site five days a week at our Del Mar Headquarters due to the nature of the work involved. This position has a schedule 2pm-10:30pm PT, Monday to Friday.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
  • 2 years of related experience working in a technical hardware development or production environment.
  • Prior experience leading/supervising staff is preferred.
  • Experience in performance testing of electromechanical devices controlled by embedded software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to read and follow procedures and train teammates to procedures.
  • Skilled at effectively communicating department or area issues and results within and across functional areas and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or timelines. Able to gain cooperation from others.
  • Skilled at effectively leading a cooperative team effort and organizing resources to achieve team goals. Able to make and prioritize process and resource decisions based on overall team needs.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Competent with MS Office and Internet.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical & electronic engineering concepts.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $$87,300-$109,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus and a robust benefits package.
