This position performs an array of clerical duties required to ensure all documentation elements are compiled to ensure successful preparation for the day of surgery. The biggest challenge for this position is meeting the desires of the physicians and patients while managing required elements of surgical documentation. This position supports all Pre-Admit Assistants in all surgical/procedural Pre-Admission locations. This position will organize, schedule, and oversee training and orientation for all new Pre-Admit Assistants, including training on Surgical Services Op-Time system functions and required elements needed to ensure ease of patient flow on the day of surgery. This position has the authority to prioritize work and make daily assignments to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction. This position will lead the daily huddle. This position will be the subject matter expert, managing day-to-day issues, answering questions about the required work, and supporting the team as needed. This position will collaborate closely with multiple representatives in the Pre-Op areas to ensure easy collaboration between the units and a smooth transition for the patient throughout the surgical experience. This position will be responsible for the chart completion tracking logs, include the monthly distribution to leadership. The incumbent will function as a liaison between physician offices to obtain necessary documentation to schedule a procedure for surgery scheduling or for scheduled procedures for pre-admit appointment. The incumbent must have knowledge in medical terminology and laboratory testing and must be able to understand basic anatomy and physiology as well as basic pharmacology. This position requires knowledge of surgical procedure terminology. This position takes the initiative to prioritize workload, ensuring that patient charts are analyzed for completeness prior to the day of surgery. Other related duties, flexible hours, and overtime may be required. This position does not provide patient care.
