The Senior MSL is responsible for supporting medical and scientific initiatives on behalf of Puma Biotechnology in selected therapeutic areas and geographical regions. Develops ongoing professional relationships with national and regional healthcare practitioners and provides educational support on current and forthcoming therapies developed and commercialized by Puma Biotechnology. Ensures access to current medical and scientific information on Puma Biotechnology products and areas of therapeutic interest to oncology key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), private and public payers, centers of excellence, and decision makers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Independently identifies, develops and maintains relationships with national and regional medical and scientific thought leaders and centers of excellence

  • Engages national and regional thought leaders to align interests, discuss research and medical information, and participate in scientific exchange and education about current and emerging therapies

  • Collects field insights and intelligence, and interprets and communicates key relevant information to define or update the organization's scientific and business strategies as it relates to the brand(s), disease states, competitors and overall therapeutic knowledge

  • As needed, supports and/or executes advisory board meetings, roundtables, and other defined HCP engagements

  • Represents Puma Biotechnology at specific scientific educational events, programs, and medical meetings

  • Identifies educational opportunities within assigned geographies and addresses relevant educational gaps by delivering educational presentations to external audiences

  • Develops and maintains scientific, clinical and therapeutic expertise on Puma Biotechnology's commercialized and investigational products

  • Provides scientific support for updates to MSL slide decks and other Medical Affairs scientific resources

  • Provides appropriate scientific, clinical, and educational support for internal and external clients

  • Partners with internal departments to ensure accurate delivery of medical and scientific information

  • Addresses unsolicited requests for neratinib or alisertib medical information from HCPs

  • Supports training for Medical Affairs as well as Commercial by participating in Speaker and Sales Representative Training

  • Provides research trial site support by identifying, evaluating and screening qualified research sites for clinical investigation

  • Develops and maintains relationships within investigational sites and across relevant referral networks to increase awareness of the clinical trials to maximize their success in reaching their enrollment goals

  • Identifies and facilitates investigator-sponsored research aligned with Puma's medical strategies; facilitates review and tracks progress of IST proposals

  • Cross-functionally collaborates, following all compliance guidelines, with regional field leadership. Stays current of local laws and guidelines, codes of practices and Puma policies relevant to Medical Affairs and Clinical Development activities.

  • Adheres to internal policies and external guidance for distribution of scientific information and scientific exchange

  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • An advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) in a scientific-related discipline required. An equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 6 years progressively responsible experience in the biopharmaceutical or related business including at least 2 years MSL experience

  • Experience in oncology

  • Knowledge of regulatory, compliance, commercial, and clinical issues affecting the pharmaceutical and managed care industries

  • Knowledge of customer segments and market dynamics

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in drug information communication

  • Ability to assert own ideas and persuade others through effectively consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information

  • Demonstrated skill at promoting team cooperation and a commitment to team success

  • Adept at seeing change as an opportunity to improve business performance and campaigning for it when necessary

  • High level of facility with relevant computer and software capabilities, including MS Office programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to travel up to 60% with primary residence within the assigned geographical area

Physical Requirement

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours including weekends or evenings.

Compensation Range

The salary range for this role is $225,000 - $235,000 per year. Higher compensation may be available for someone with advanced skills and/or experience.

At Puma Biotechnology, we offer an attractive compensation package to our team members. Any offer would include a competitive base salary (estimate shared above), an annual bonus target, and a robust benefits package. Actual individual pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
