Position Summary
The Program Specialist is based in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health's North Carolina Institute for Public Health ( NCIPH). NCIPH has a mission to collaboratively lead and foster innovative solutions to public health challenges in NC and beyond by creating systems, policies, and programs that work for all. NCIPH uses the expertise of our staff, partners and the UNC Gillings community to transform organizations, develop leaders, translate data to action and build capacity to improve public health. The Program Specialist will work within NCIPH's Community Assessment and Strategy ( CAS) team to provide programmatic and administrative support for the HHS Region 4 Center for Public Health Preparedness and Response ( CPHPR) and other projects related to governmental public health. Their work will support the implementation of evidence-based strategies to improve public health preparedness and response capabilities, as well as effective administration for accreditation of local health departments throughout North Carolina.

The individual in this position will assist project personnel and external collaborators in partnership building, implementation, task management, preparation of deliverables and materials, program evaluation, meeting organization and facilitation, communication activities, and related administrative tasks. This individual will coordinate and interact with federal, state, and local health officials and other partners across the state and region. Strong knowledge of and commitment to identifying and addressing racial and health inequities will be necessary in their project work.

Position is hybrid with at least one day a week onsite. This role is required to live in NC and reside within commuting distance of UNC campus. Occasional travel is required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Knowledge of public health preparedness and response roles, responsibilities, and activities at the local, state, or federal level preferred.
- Knowledge of accreditation program/requirements for local health departments is preferred.
- Knowledge of the North Carolina public health system and/or experience working in local, state, federal, or international governmental public health is strongly preferred.
-Experience communicating with and convening state and local public health leaders is strongly preferred.
-Experience working with Asana project management software preferred.
