Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. The Virtualization Environment Lead (VEL), located in the Honolulu, HI area, will provide technical leadership and management for all virtualized environments, including the Virtual Desktop Initiative (VDI), server virtualization, and other virtualized services as needed. The VEL ensures secure, reliable, and optimized virtualized solutions supporting mission-critical operations. A significant portion of this role will focus on the detailed management of VDI systems.



Responsibilities

    Provide technical leadership and management for all virtualized environments, with a primary focus on the Virtual Desktop Initiative (VDI).
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure and optimized VDI systems and server virtualization solutions for mission-critical operations.
  • Oversee the performance, reliability, and security of virtualized environments, ensuring continuous operational support.
  • Manage daily VDI and virtualization tasks, including troubleshooting, resolving performance issues, and optimizing virtual systems.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate new virtualized services as required, ensuring alignment with operational and security policies.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline VDI management processes.
  • Monitor virtualized environments for performance, proactively identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and provide technical guidance and training as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and organization-specific technical and security requirements.


Qualifications

  • Possess a Top Secret (TS) clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Source Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in VDI and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware Certified Professional - Desktop and Mobility, Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization, Nutanix Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated 'Advanced Technical Expertise' or certification in accordance with DoD 8140.03.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in VDI administration and management, with specific expertise in virtual systems (such as Citrix Virtual Apps, virtual desktops, cross domain solutions/access solutions, VDI).
  • Expertise in at least one major VDI platform (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Azure Virtual Desktop).
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., hypervisors like VMware ESXi or Hyper-V).
  • Proficiency in networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and SSL/TLS, as well as storage solutions including SAN and NAS.
  • Knowledge of security policies relevant to VDI environments.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for VDI management.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor VDI performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize the environment for a smooth user experience.


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $129,800.00/Yr. - USD $216,700.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
