Job Description

1st Shift - Wax Assistant Lead

PURPOSE:

In addition to performing normal duties in their respective job classifications, the Assistant Manufacturing Lead supports the daily operations of the manufacturing department by providing guidance, coordination, and training to team members. This role assists the Manufacturing Department Lead in achieving production goals and serves as the acting lead during the lead's absence, ensuring continuity of workflow, safety, and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Manufacturing Department Lead in coordinating daily production schedules and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Support team members with job-related questions, technical challenges, and quality expectations.
  • Train and mentor employees on proper work methods, safety practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform quality checks and ensure product meets specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor production processes and identify potential delays or resource needs, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring team adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Operations Supervisor and Department Lead, including workflow coordination, issue resolution, and communication with other supervisors and/or managers.
  • Assist in recordkeeping and data entry related to production performance and quality metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with leadership to enhance productivity and efficiency.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 35 pounds for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and safety requirements.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to the Department Supervisor

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical training preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality systems.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lead by example and foster teamwork and accountability.
    • Comfortable interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
