The Recreation Supervisor at Secure Detention is responsible for implementing and facilitating recreational programs and activities. The Recreation Specialist will implement and facilitate the recreation program but not limited to sports, leisure, cultural, and therapeutic based activities.


Description

Job Responsibilities



  • Supervises, teaches and acts as a role model for youth, and always be aware and account for youth
  • Demonstrated ability to create adventure-based recreational programs and ability to manage and operate various recreational facilities and equipment
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to become and maintain TCI, First Aid, CPR, ABC.
  • Demonstrated understanding of programming for youth with substance abuse and/or mental health challenges
  • Demonstrated organizational skills including time management and ability to facilitate a variety of recreational programs and workforce development activities
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise the facility recreation department.



Job Requirements



  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a similar field
  • Experience working with at risk youth and/or non-profit experience preferred
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written, including attention to detail and training skills
  • Ability to work with a culturally and economically diverse population
  • Current and valid driver's license required as per Agency guidelines; travel is required
