Job Overview

The Department of Physics at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in cosmology. The successful candidate will work with Professor Colin Bischoff on measurements of the Cosmic Microwave Background with the BICEP telescopes and South Pole Observatory. Research activities include instrumentation, support of ongoing observations, and data analysis. The postdoctoral fellow will be supported and encouraged to develop new projects and will have opportunities, if interested, to mentor graduate and undergraduate students. This position offers a competitive salary with health benefits. It also includes funds for professional travel, publications, and computing. The initial appointment will be for one year but could be extended by two additional years contingent on performance and availability of funding. The intended start date is March 30, 2026, but earlier or later start dates are possible.

Essential Functions

  • In collaboration with Prof. Bischoff and other group members, develop and engage in projects to support the scientific goals of the BICEP and South Pole Observatory collaborations.
  • Participate in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals; may assist in grant writing.
  • Present new results at domestic and international meetings to keep the scientific community and general public informed about progress made by our collaborations.
  • Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
  • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.

Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree
