Description

We are seeking a visionary and technically accomplished Director of AMS and RF Design Enablement to lead our Silicon Realization team. As the leader of the Silicon Realization team, you will push the boundaries of design by enabling best-in-class tools, flows and a robust process for analog and RF design across both Silicon and Package domains. You will work with both internal and external focus to drive business success for Skyworks. Internally, you will partner with engineering leaders across the business units and central functions to define and operationalize best-in-class tools, flows and methodologies across design, tape-out, mask-assembly and packaging. Externally, you will collaborate with industry-leading vendors and academia to ensure we optimize across all the three axes business, viz. cycle time, quality and cost. This is a high-impact leadership position reporting to the Sr. Director of EDA Engineering, with a mandate to institute robust operational processes and grow a world-class team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership, technical guidance and mentorship to the Silicon Realization team. Promote a culture of collaboration and growth by being a force multiplier.
  • Create a framework of robust product development with modern software engineering practices for creating, verifying and releasing EDA artifacts. Hold the team to a higher standard so EDA can truly push the boundaries of design.
  • Optimize the design flow by working closely with the NPI team and identify and address the bottlenecks in the design flow in a holistic way. Align best practices of D/MS, A/MS and Acoustic designs and build the talent to support and scale such best practices across Skyworks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Packaging, Test, and Manufacturing teams as well as with IT, Quality and NPI.
  • Actively research and evaluate state of the art AI and ML driven design automation solutions and work with the team and the engineering stakeholders to drive productivity and ROI improvement.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in CAD and EDA for analog, RF and mixed-signal design and development, in both individual contributor and leadership role.
  • Expertise in simulation tools and methodologies as an advanced end-user to drive performance and accuracy goals. Hands-on familiarity with complex mixed-signal configuration methods such as checkerboarding to drive the optimal balance between simulation cost and functionality coverage
  • Understanding of design data management with a "IP first" mindset and experience in defining and operationalizing IP reuse eco system across enterprise
  • Deep experience in foundry technologies, development, validation and deployment of a PDK framework across enterprise following modern software engineering principles
  • Experience in EDA tool selection, benchmarking, partnership with procurement to manage vendor relationship to optimize design productivity and operational expense
  • Proven track record in collaborating with external vendors, IT and Information Security teams to bring EDA workloads into cloud including ROI analysis
  • Proficiency in tools and platforms, such as Cadence, Mentor, Synopsys, Keysight, Ansys, etc., and ability to customize and automate design flows using scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, Tcl, etc.
  • Proven track record in recruiting and managing global teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of top-down verification techniques including high-level abstraction modeling practices, verification planning both at top and block-level.
  • Software-first mentality when it comes to automation. We are not looking for someone who can script a use case. We are looking for a best-in-class software leader who can design and implement a verification platform and has a track record of applying core software engineering concepts to EDA software development.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$170,100 -$339,500 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
