Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of Silicon-based RFICs from initial concept through production release.
  • Collaborate with module design teams and design management to define circuit architecture and detailed specifications.
  • Manage technical decisions, track design progress, and resolve performance and implementation issues.
  • Ensure alignment between simulation models, physical layout, and measured device performance.
  • Coordinate regularly with remote design teams across time zones to maintain project momentum and technical consistency.

Required Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSEE with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, MSEE with 3+ years of experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • For recent graduates, prior industry internship experience is required.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of transistor-level design for Silicon RFIC circuits, such LNAs (low-noise amplifiers), RF switches, directional couplers, and filters.
  • Ability to optimize key RF performance metrics: insertion loss, bandwidth, linearity, power handling, noise figure, and mode switch timing.
  • Familiarity with Silicon transistor device physics, layout techniques, and process characteristics.
  • Solid foundation in RF and microwave engineering principles: small-signal and large-signal analysis, linearity, noise, Smith Charts, load-pull, and impedance matching.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret circuit behavior in both time and frequency domains.

Tools & Lab Experience

  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and EMX. Experience with ADS and HFSS is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with RF and analog test equipment: spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, load-pull stations, RF probes, oscilloscopes, power meters, and noise figure meters.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information.
  • Capable of breaking down complex problems, setting priorities, and executing tasks on schedule.
  • Willingness to work with remote teams across different time zones.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Silicon chip tapeout experience from initial design through hardware realization.
  • Familiarity with RFFE digital control schemes, register maps, and logic tables.
  • Basic understanding of analog building blocks such as bandgaps, op-amps, regulators, precision current mirrors, and logic synthesis.
  • Knowledge of layout techniques, device matching, ESD protection, and latch-up prevention.
