What you'll do:

In this role, you will report directly to the Group General Counsel and play a key part in supporting the legal team. Your primary focus will be providing legal support to the Group General Counsel across a wide range of legal and governance matters, with light support of Novi office management responsibilities.

Additionally, you will help drive operational excellence by managing and optimizing legal technologies, billing systems, matter management tools, and contract lifecycle management solutions.

Work Environment & Travel: This is an onsite role based at our Novi, MI office.

Contract and Document Management

  • Maintain and update contract templates and libraries.
  • Support internal legal counsel with form contracts, including non-disclosure agreements.
  • Manage and assist in the organization of the legal team's electronic document database and paper records.

Litigation Management

  • Manage the intake of subpoenas and tracking of legal claims.
  • Assist outside counsel and internal legal counsel with litigation requests and support as needed.
  • Issue and manage litigation legal holds to the company team members.

Intellectual Property

  • Act as a liaison between outside counsel and key stakeholder in the management of the company's intellectual property portfolio.

Compliance, Risk Management, and Education Support

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and management of compliance programs and policies.
  • Support state and federal filings applicable to the company's operations and geographic footprint.

Legal and Novi Office Operations

  • Process Optimization: Assist in the development and implementation of standardized processes, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency within the legal function.
  • Vendor Management: Managing relationships with legal vendors and outside counsel, including outside counsel onboarding and billing.
  • Support the office with administrative needs, including maintaining an organized office space, ensuring that all supplies are stocked and equipment is functioning properly, shipping and receiving deliveries, and supporting building maintenance.

Miscellaneous

  • Perform legal research and other matters as directed by counsel.

What you need to be successful:

  • An Associate Degree or higher is required.
  • A Paralegal Certification is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
