Commercial Loan Servicing Analyst Manager

Position Summary:

At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). The Manager is responsible for supervising staff, developing processes, implementing system enhancements, and ensuring regulatory adherence, while also serving as a subject matter expert in system maintenance. This role collaborates with senior loan servicing management to support organizational growth and deliver exceptional service to customers, lenders, and internal partners.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Direct, mentor, and develop a high-performing loan operations and servicing team.
  • Set performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and conduct evaluations.
  • Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong customer service.
  • Ensure staff are properly trained on systems, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day loan accounting, servicing, and exception management functions.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of participation loans, ACH/non-posted transactions, and exception reports.
  • Maintain compliance with credit bureau reporting, flood insurance regulations, bankruptcy law, and other legal requirements.
  • Supervise complex account maintenance, including charge-offs, repossessions, merges, and non-accruals.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex issues, guiding staff on resolution and coordinating with vendors or legal counsel.
  • Work loan servicing tickets through the support portal to assist the Analyst team to ensure quick customer service and resolution of system errors or maintenance requests.
  • Design, implement, and maintain efficient workflows and internal controls.
  • Lead process and system improvements enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Oversee system conversions, upgrades, and integrations, including discovery, testing, and validation.
  • Monitor portfolio risk, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions to senior loan servicing manager.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align loan operations with business strategy and growth goals.
  • Recommend new technologies, processes, and products to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Lead departmental projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.



Qualifications

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in loan operations, servicing, or accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role in a financial institution preferred.


Skills:


  • Strong accounting and loan servicing knowledge with a high level of analytical skills.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in lending.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan servicing systems; data warehouse reporting experience preferred.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration across departments.
