The salary range for this position is $202,700 - $338,300. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience. The successful individual will provide leadership and mentorship in directing research projects for graduate students and/or residents. The candidate's research must align with the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and its mission-oriented research. Service: Expectations include departmental, university and public service through committee membership, participating in professional organizations, continuing education and community outreach as appropriate is required. Qualified candidates are required to have a DVM degree or equivalent and advanced training in livestock herd health and infectious diseases, with an emphasis on dairy cattle health. Board certification in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM) and a PhD. are required. The candidate must have demonstrated experience working with producers, industry, governmental agencies, or stakeholder groups, with evidence of successfully meeting goals and collaborative outputs. The candidate must have demonstrated successful acquisition of research or training funds that have led to peer-reviewed publications. A documented record of an independent and creative research program in livestock herd health, focusing on infectious diseases in dairy cattle health, is required. Experience in teaching within a veterinary medicine curriculum on areas related to livestock herd health, including clinical instruction of DVM students, residents, and MS/Ph.D. students, is required. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. This alignment with the Principles of Community and faculty governance at the University of California, Davis, is essential to addressing the needs of the California livestock industry. Demonstrated experience with food animal production systems in a North American context. Demonstrated experience in leadership roles in an academic setting.
