Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Preparation, interpretation, and implementation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for construction sites and industrial facilities.
  • Managing, evaluating, and summarizing monitoring data.
  • Reviewing state and federal regulations & permits pertaining to surface water.
  • Field investigations and construction site compliance support services, including storm water compliance, and selection, installation, and oversight maintenance of construction storm water best management practices (BMPs).
  • Water quality monitoring.
  • Water quality data analysis.
  • Preparing erosion and sediment control plans.
  • Assisting with preparation of Clean Water Act Sections 10, 404, and 401 permit applications.
  • Interacting with client representatives.
  • Drive personal, company, and/or rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology or engineering, with an emphasis on water resources or a closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner Certification. (preferred)
  • Qualified SWPPP Practitioner/Developer Certification. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior professional or internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • General understanding of California stormwater regulations including MS4, Construction, and Industrial General Permits. (required)
  • Practical experience with design and implementation on a variety of BMPs and stormwater O&M programs. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to stormwater compliance management. (preferred)
  • Knowledge and field experience with general construction projects. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with water quality-related legislation. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular fieldwork and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum: $68,640/year / Maximum: $74,220/year or Minimum: $28.54/hour / Maximum: $33.00/hour (San Diego, CA)
