Job Description




Allied Universal is hiring a Vice President, Managing Counsel of Litigation and Commercial Matters. The Vice President, Managing Counsel of Litigation and Commercial Matters will support Allied Universal's Legal Services Group by assisting with the handling and management of high-stakes litigation, including general liability, class actions, and commercial matters. The position of Vice President, Managing Counsel of Litigation and Commercial Matters is offered as a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote and in-office responsibilities. This role may be based in Atlanta, GA or Conshohocken, PA. This role may expect some overnight travel based on business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Manage external counsel and oversee general liability matters and program, class action claims, commercial and business litigation, automobile liability, and other litigation matters and disputes, including setting reserves, managing budgets, and assessing overall risks
  • Partner with C-Suite executives, finance, and internal teams to address material litigation, risk matters, and related business implications, while identifying trends and implementing preventive strategies
  • Support corporate transactions and strategic initiatives by providing litigation risk assessments and advising on dispute-related provisions, indemnities, and potential exposures
  • Manage crisis and threat incident responses and communicate effectively with both internal and external clients regarding legal matters and business disputes
  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel to internal stakeholders and leaders across functions, including sales, communications, marketing, operations, finance, and benefits, while managing outside counsel and supporting the Retirement Benefits Committee
  • Manage significant client audits and billing disputes as well as indemnification matters involving clients and subcontractors
  • Oversee pre-litigation dispute resolutions, ensuring timely, thorough, and defensible responses to claims or regulatory inquiries
  • Negotiate settlements and represent the company at mediations and settlement conferences
  • Identify process improvements based on experience, lessons learned, and best practices, and develop reports, presentations, and training materials to support implementation and knowledge sharing
  • Supervise Litigation Paralegal(s)
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the Deputy General Counsel

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in any jurisdiction
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of litigation experience
  • Prior experience handling general liability and/or business litigation matters
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with a large number of diverse internal groups, including all levels of employees, in-house legal counsel, external legal counsel, customers, law enforcement officials and agencies, consultants, and vendors
  • Proven track record managing high-stakes litigations, class actions, and commercial disputes
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute litigation strategies aligned with business goals
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills, including attention to detail and a self-driven problem-solving mindset
  • High integrity, strong work ethic, customer-centric and able to handle multiple, simultaneous projects with attention to detail
  • Ability to drive deliverables and influence both internal and external customers in a team setting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • Prior experience in the security industry or other regulated industry
