Position Title: Senior Controls Engineer

Wage: Based on Experience

We are seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA to lead and support the design, development, and optimization of industrial control systems. This role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally on automation and process improvement initiatives within a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

Senior Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and implement control strategies to optimize efficiency, quality, and productivity

- Establish and maintain engineering standards for control system design and implementation

- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and safety regulations

- Provide technical guidance on the selection, configuration, and implementation of control hardware and software

- Research and apply emerging technologies to enhance automation and process reliability

- Manage and lead controls-related projects from concept to completion

- Collaborate with vendors, integrators, and internal teams to ensure effective project execution

- Develop and deliver training on control system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance

- Lead and mentor a small team of controls technicians across multiple shifts

- Maintain thorough documentation for control system designs, configurations, and revisions

Requirements for Senior Controls Engineer:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

- 3-7 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment

- Proficiency with PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams)

- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for complex control systems

- Experience managing projects and collaborating with external controls vendors

- Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills

- Experience with Ignition platform and dashboard development preferred

- Familiarity with MES systems and industrial controls integration preferred

- Knowledge of robotic control systems and programming preferred

- Experience with C, C++, or Python preferred

- Background in consumer products or appliance manufacturing is a plus
