Performs one or more of the following procedures in the neurodiagnostic lab. Procedures include EEG, EMG, Autonomic Testing, LTM, Evoke Potentials, OR Monitoring, WADA testing, Ictal SPECT, or assisting with BOTOX treatments.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. May provide technical training and technical assistance to non-registered techs or tech students as assigned.
2. Operates NDC equipment to record patients' brain waves or nerve impulses; monitors, records and documents all aspects of recording. Adds extra electrodes, as necessary, to determine nature of irregularity by method comparison, such as eye movements resembling brain waves, pulse, etc. Documents identifying data (bell, deep breathing, distraction, seizure and type) on tracing along with other information which may be helpful to the neurologist when reading the recording.
3. Performs special types of EEGs or Long-Term Epilepsy monitoring, and druginduced studies.
4. May perform Evoked Potentials once deemed competent via in-house training.
5. Prepares the patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patients' cooperation during procedure.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Registered in either EEG (ABRET) or Nerve Conduction testing (AAET) to qualify for position.
3.Must obtain second registration in one of the following: EEG, Nerve Conduction testing (NCS), Certified Long-term Monitoring Technologist (CLTM), Neuroanlayst, Autonomic professional, or Evoked Potential within 2 years of employment as a condition of employment.
4. BLS certification.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Minimum of one year of experience in EEG or Nerve Conduction testing.
2. Communication skills necessary, both oral and written to interact with staff, physicians and patients.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
