Job Summary:

Life Sciences Financial Services is a service center within the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. The Life Sciences Financial Services (LSFS) manages the financial, human resources, research administration, purchasing, and receiving needs for the departments of Neurobiology and Molecular Biosciences, as well as serving the programs in Interdepartmental Biological Sciences (IBiS) and Biological Sciences (BS).

This is a full-time position that works 37.5 hours per week, largely on-site with some opportunities for remote work. The target hiring range for this position will be between $20 - $25 an hour which is between $39,150 - $48,937 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Financial Transactions: Completes and maintains transactions in purchasing systems. Reviews, ensures approval, prepares, processes, reconciles & provides receipts (as appropriate) for transactions. Troubleshoots problems. Performs vendor/account research as needed. Obtain additional information by phone, e-mail, or in-person from customers/vendors. Enter information into database.

  • Administration: Provides excellent customer service, over the phone, via e-mail, and in person, answering standard questions regarding the status of requests, policies, and procedures for processing transactions, and /or instructions for completing paperwork. Instruct and advise regarding options and appropriate courses of action, and follow up inquiries to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Budget: Complete functions/tasks associated with the annual budget open/close processes.

  • Analysis, Statements & Reporting: Perform data entry in spreadsheets and/or databases. Run pre-set Cognos reports to complete transactions and track the transactions.

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.

  • 2 years accounting &/or bookkeeping experience or the equivalent combination of education & experience.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, database and word processing software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills;

  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills;

  • Attention to detail and multitasking skills;
