Job Description: MRO Lead

Position Summary

The MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Lead is responsible for managing the inventory of facility and instrumentation lab equipment spare parts. This role ensures optimal stock levels, coordinates purchasing and receiving through the CMMS, proactively assembles preventive maintenance (PM) kits, forecasts usage trends, and collaborates with suppliers. The MRO Lead plays a key role in supporting maintenance operations, minimizing equipment downtime, and optimizing inventory costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, track, and control spare parts inventory for facility and instrumentation lab equipment.
  • Maintain and update the spare parts database within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Monitor stock levels to ensure critical parts are available; reorder and replenish inventory as needed.
  • Oversee purchasing, receiving, and proper documentation of spare parts transactions in the EAMs CMMS.
  • Proactively build and maintain Preventive Maintenance (PM) kits for scheduled maintenance work.
  • Forecast inventory usage trends by analyzing historical data, usage rates, and upcoming maintenance schedules.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, negotiate terms, and resolve issues.
  • Conduct periodic inventory audits to reconcile physical counts with system records and investigate discrepancies.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize inventory levels, reduce carrying costs, and prevent obsolescence.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians, planners, and engineering staff to understand parts requirements and improve processes.
  • Adhere to safety, regulatory, and company standards in all inventory practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in MRO inventory management or a similar role, preferably in a facility or laboratory environment.
  • Proficient in using inventory management software, with hands-on experience in EAMs CMMS or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance operations, spare part identification, and supply chain best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with internal teams and external suppliers.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building PM kits and supporting preventive maintenance programs.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and laboratory equipment parts.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to facility and lab maintenance.
